We process personal information in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA).
2. What we collect, and whether you have to give it to us

We collect this information directly from you.
Bookings are made on the NightsBridge booking system, which has its own privacy policy. We receive the booking details you give there so that we can host your stay.
No law requires us to collect this information. We collect it because you choose to give it to us, or because it’s needed to run and secure the site.
3. Why we may lawfully process it
We process personal information on one or more of these grounds: your consent; because it’s needed to do something you’ve asked us to do, like answering an enquiry or preparing a quote; or because we have a legitimate interest in running and securing this website that doesn’t override your rights.
4. Who sees it
- Our reservations and events team, who answer enquiries.
- The service providers in section 5, who process information on our behalf, including Web Assist, who looks after this website. They may not use it for their own purposes.
- A third party where the law requires disclosure, or where we need to establish or defend a legal claim.
We don’t sell personal information, and we don’t share it for anyone else’s marketing.
5. Where it is stored, including outside South Africa
Some of our service providers store information outside South Africa. Where they do, we rely on their contractual data protection commitments, which require a level of protection substantially similar to POPIA’s and restrict onward transfers.

6. Cookies and tracking
We use cookies and similar technologies. Analytics and marketing cookies are blocked until you consent through our cookie banner, and you can change or withdraw your choices at any time. Usermaven, our cookieless analytics tool, runs for all visitors because it sets no cookies and doesn’t identify you. The full detail is in our cookie policy.

If you subscribe to our newsletter, we’ll send you our news and special offers. That’s the whole of what you sign up for.
We won’t add you to the newsletter because you sent an enquiry or made a booking. Subscribing is a separate, deliberate choice.
Every email has an unsubscribe link. You can also email reservations@oldmacdaddy.co.za and ask to be removed, and we’ll record your objection so we don’t contact you again.
8. How long we keep it

We keep information longer only where a law requires it, for example accounting records for a booking.
9. How we protect it
We take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect personal information against loss, damage and unauthorised access, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), a web application firewall, protection against password-guessing attacks, restricted access to the website’s administration, and keeping software up to date. If a security compromise affects your personal information, we’ll notify the Information Regulator and you, as POPIA requires.
10. Your rights
You have the right to:
- ask what personal information we hold about you, and receive a copy;
- ask us to correct or delete information that is inaccurate, irrelevant, excessive, out of date, incomplete, misleading or unlawfully obtained;
- object to our processing of your information on reasonable grounds;
- withdraw consent you’ve given, at any time;
- ask us to stop sending you marketing;
- complain to the Information Regulator.

11. Children
The site isn’t directed at children under 18, and we don’t knowingly collect their personal information without the consent of a parent or guardian. If you believe we have, contact michael@oldmacdaddy.co.za and we’ll delete it.
12. Automated decisions
We don’t make decisions about you based solely on automated processing.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. The date at the top shows when it last changed. Where a change materially affects how we use your information, we’ll tell you.
