This page explains the cookies and similar technologies used on oldmacdaddy.co.za, and how you can control them.
What cookies are
Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. Similar technologies, like browser storage, work the same way. Some are needed for the site to work. Others help us understand how the site is used, or measure our advertising.
Your choice
When you first visit, we ask for your consent. Only essential cookies are used until you choose. You can change your mind at any time with the Cookie Preferences button below. We keep a record of your choice for 12 months, then ask again.
Essential
These keep the site working and secure, so they can’t be switched off.
- Your cookie choice, so we don’t ask on every page.
- Google reCAPTCHA on our enquiry forms, which protects them from spam. Google receives some technical information about your visit when the form loads.
Analytics (only with your consent)
- Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager, to count visits and see which pages are useful.
- Usermaven, a privacy-friendly analytics tool, for the same purpose.
Marketing (only with your consent)
- Meta (Facebook) Pixel and Google Ads, to measure whether our adverts lead to enquiries and to show relevant adverts.
Embedded content
- YouTube: the film on our weddings page uses YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode. It sets no cookies, but stores a few player settings in your browser, and your IP address reaches Google when the film loads.
- Google Maps: our maps load only after you give consent. Until then you’ll see a placeholder.
Managing cookies in your browser
You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking essential cookies may stop parts of the site, like the enquiry forms, from working.
